Last Friday we made the drive to Cleveland to meet with the surgery team to investigate what to do next. We hadn't been since November (not that I am complaining!) and I had uncover the breadcrumbs, but we made it without any problems.
The next surgery will be in mid September and it seems like we are getting to the finish line. There will be a brow lift and scar revision. We discussed hair plugs, but will deal with that as a very last step another year or two in the future.
Before this started we had a consult with a surgeon who suggested starting the expanders at age 5 or 6, which would have been a lot more difficult on a lot of levels. The great news is we are finished with tissue expanders. As scary as any surgery is, having that portion of the treatment behind is is wonderful.
Of course, a trip to Presti's Bakery in little Italy is required in Cleveland. After spumoni gelato, cassatta cake and a pound of pignoli's to go, we made the drive back and look forward to enjoying the rest of summer!
